![]() ![]() In October 1997, the Hungarian telephone company MATAV honored the approaching centennial of Leo Szilard's birth by issuing a commemorative telephone card. The front of the card showed Szilard in a photograph by Tita Binz. The back of the card showed the glowing core of a nuclear reactor, the possibility of which Szilard had foreseen on a London street-corner in 1933. Each card was valid for 50 units of telephone usage. 100,000 cards were issued. Copyright © 2000 Gene Dannen
